Ice Skating at Paterswoldsemeer
The spring is almost around the corner, but we are lucky enough to finally get some snow and cold weather in The Netherlands. When the lakes and ditches have a layer of ice that is thick enough to skate on, you can be assured that most of the Dutch grab their ice skates and make a trip on the ice! I wanted to take this chance to try it out myself, as I haven’t ice skated for many years. I did pretty well on the Paterswoldsemeer, a lake near Groningen. After 15 kilometers my feet started to hurt, which was a good excuse for me take some pictures.
