KEI-week 2011: Pool Party

Time for some relaxation! Swimming pool, music, drinks, food, sport activities, that’s what the Pool Party at the KEI-week is all about. Although the weather wasn’t at its best, some students still decided to take a dive! Those who didn’t like the water, could play beach volleyball instead.

KEI-week 2011: Culture Festival

The third day of the KEI-week was all about culture. There were many activities in the city center during the day. In the evening there was cabaret from Arie Koomen and a few others. Below are pictures from the cabaret performances, which certainly was fun!

KEI-week 2011: Grand Opening and Night of the Songs

The first and second day of the KEI-week ended with the two big events in the city center of Groningen. The crowd was amazing both evenings! During the Night of the Songs, everybody sang as loud as they could on popular songs that were performed by Groove Department and Cooldown Cafe. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a party before where the entire crowd parties as much as here, especially when they started playing the track ‘Liquido – Narcotic’.

KEI-week 2011: Sport Plaza and Parade

Many students came to practice the sports that are offered by ACLO (a students sport organization of the university) on the second day of the KEI-week. In the afternoon the Parade started. The student unions in Groningen made a tour through the city center and showed off with cool vehicles and outfits.

KEI-week 2011: Registration

The KEI-week has started! It is the biggest introduction week for students in The Netherlands. It is held in Groningen, a typical student city with over 50,000 students (and a population of 190,000). The KEI-week lasts for five days and contains many activities that will allow the new students to meet the city, the student life, the student unions, and much more. I was asked to join the photo crew and take photos of this event. In the upcoming blog posts I will post pictures of the events that will take place. In this first blog post: the registration and information market.
